Obituary for Val Sanders Painter III

Val S. Painter III, 85, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Sugarland. He is survived by his daughters, Marla Ripps of San Antonio and Marian Pfeifer of Athens, Georgia; one granddaughter, Staci and two grandsons, James and Chris; two nephews, Sid and Glenn Jarnagin.

Born July 20, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents, Valarius and Reba Painter, Val was known as a loving and caring man. He graduated High School at Byrd High in Shreveport, and then went on to attend Louisiana Tech.

Afterward, he served in the United States Navy with tours to Japan and Hawaii immediately after the Korean War ended.

He loved to play golf and bowl in his earlier years and fished many times in area lakes- most noteworthy, Toledo Bend Reservoir. The family and friends would join Val in his back yard for fish fries after the trips.

The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, September 20, 2018 at eleven thirty in the morning at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
