Obituary for Maida Burns Dorsett

Maida Burns Dorsett
Maida Joan Burns Dorsett went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday May 29, 2018. She was born in Houston, Texas to John H. and Maida Lee Dowdy Burns. Maida lived a very full and diverse life enjoying every moment she was on earth – her smile would light up any room. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Maxine & Gleason Coleman. She is survived by her husband, Richard (whom she remarried in 2007); son, Kevin Lee Dorsett and wife, Rena; daughter, Kari Lyn Cromeens and husband Ben; and the 4 loves and joy of her life on earth – her grandchildren: Hannah Lee, Shane Morrell, & Sarah Lyn Cromeens, and Regan Amber Dorsett; her sister and brother-in-law, Marian and John Hemmenway, plus numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces. Christmas was definitely her favorite time of year; she loved the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, the music (which she played all year long), decorations, movies, and the love everyone shared during this time of year. She was a retired Human Resource Professional and loved helping people. She was a true "Heights" girl growing up on Heights Boulevard and later moving to Timbergrove Manor. Maida was a member of Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church and actively involved in the Stephen Ministry and several other ministries. Even though she will be missed we rejoice in knowing she's Home with her Lord and Savior and we will see her again in Heaven. Visitation will be held Friday June 1, 2018, 6:00-8:00PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home 1101 Antoine Dr. Houston, TX 77055. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday June 2, 2018 at Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 8300 Katy Freeway Houston, TX 77024. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the Houston Poodle Rescue, or Harbor Hospice.
