Bobbye Jo “Jody” Apgar, 80, passed away peacefully May 8, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Jody was born February 22, 1938 in Abilene, TX to Robert Haney and Mary Janice Walpole. Jody is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vaughn.
Jody was generous, compassionate and caring, continually showing unconditional love to all. Her family was always most important to her. Her children were the driving force behind her career pursuits. She worked two jobs while attending Harris County Community College and U of H Downtown to advance her position at Shell Oil Company from which she proudly retired.
She volunteered with “Meals on Wheels”, loved flowers, handmaking bows and silk flower arrangements, riding her tractor, teaching ballroom dance, racing cars with Vance, baking cakes, decorating her home like a showplace for holidays, and watching “Wheel of Fortune” for the joy of being the first to guess the answer!
When her first grandchild arrived, she proclaimed she was too young to be called “grandmother”, so from then on, we called her “Honey”. She had a way of making all people feel special. She lived her life giving of herself and her generous and loving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to treasure her precious memory, siblings, Vance Walpole(Barbara), and Betty Zaboroski. Children, Denice Apgar(Vicki), John Apgar(Rocio) and April Apgar. Grandchildren, Jonathan(Blaise), Rocky(Michelle), Brandon(Sabrina), Alyssa(Kevin), Rebekah and Jessah. Great grandchildren, Cassius, Raleigh, Shelby, Avalee, Elia, Fletcher, Liam and Kaydence. Nieces and nephew, Vonna(Nick), Amber(Tony), Brittany, Laura, Jessica, Terrilynn and Orvin Jr. Great nephews, Trace, Allister, Rivers and Rainn.
The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful ICU staff at Memorial Hermann Sugarland for their compassionate and extraordinary care.
Graveside Memorial will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery. 1101 Antoine Dr. Houston, Tx. 77055.
