Martha Harris  Buck
Martha Ruth Harris Buck, age 85, of Katy, Texas, passed away on May, 3, 2018 at Houston Methodist West Hospital after a brief struggle with pneumonia. Martha is survived by her Son, David Buck, and Daughter, Cynthia Harrall and Son-in-Law, Martin Harrall. Martha also leaves behind her Grandson, James Anderson and Granddaughter, Laura Green. Martha is also survived by her previous Son-in-Law, Ray Anderson, as well as; Granddaughter-in-Law, Kelli Anderson, previous Granddaughter-in-Law, Daniela Anderson and Grandson in-Law, Johnnie Green. In addition, Martha was blessed with and is survived by seven Great Grandchildren; Angelique Hubbard, Asaiah Hubbard, Lauren Anderson, Christian A. Porter, Juliet Green, Trevor Anderson, and Jazmine Green.

Martha was the Widow of Carlos Buck. She was also preceded in death by her Parents, Albert and Maurine Harris; and Brothers, Sidney and Lewis Harris. In addition, her Grandson-in-Law, Christian T. Porter, precedes her in death. Martha has Brothers and Sisters – in – Laws, most deceased and a few living; along with several nieces and nephews, and their children, who will keep her close in their hearts.

Martha was born in Telephone, Texas on July 21, 1932. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Garland, Texas where she grew up and lived through her youth and young adult years. She graduated with honors from Garland High School.

She met her Husband, Carlos, on a ‘blind-double date.’ They were married for 54 years, until his passing in 2006. Martha was the devoted spouse and accompanied Carlos across various parts of Texas for his Presbyterian Ministry assignments over the years. She also worked and raised two children, while being heavily involved in her Family’s spiritual growth and upbringing. Some of her early jobs were as a Dental Assistant and a factory worker at Mrs. Tucker’s shortening. But, Martha mostly worked as a Secretary during her career. Some of her Employers were the Texas Education Agency, in Austin, Texas and the Rio Grande Valley Fruit Coop in South Texas. She eventually found her way to Exxon Chemical, where she retired as an Executive Secretary. She made many friends there.

Martha enjoyed life on many levels. She traveled to Mexico often to visit with her in-laws and practiced her Spanish, which she basically taught herself. Martha enjoyed singing in the church choir, reading, going to the symphony, sewing and her favorite hobby was quilting. She attend the International Quilt Festival (IQF) often. And in recent years, she formed and became member a small Quilting group, which she enjoyed greatly.

She always had a pleasant demeanor, rarely criticized and forgave quickly. A dear, sweet, loving Christian woman, who will be remembered and missed.
