I served with Stan 3 years while in Bamberg, Germany 6&10 Artillery. We shared many great times together and I have always missed not being able to be closer in order to continue our friendship and continue to share a little of life’s experiences. We were in the same military unit, so we saw each other every day during that time and spent many evenings walking into town to share a mug of German beer or glass of wine. His favorite was the white Rheinhessen Spatlese. He also appreciated a good bourbon while listening to a little Peter Frampton, when he would come over and visit. He told me plenty of stories of his days working with the railroad and we shared plenty of laughter. He liked to cook a little, too and when I was able to get a place off base, he would come over and cook up some nice stuff. The best of the best was his own version of what he called a little Texan Chili with a French flare. He stood over that stove throwin’ all kinds of goodies in the pot while we shared a little J.D. Best chili I ever had! Will never forget him! So sorry I couldn’t have been closer to carry on our friendship.
