Obituary for Wilda Maness

Wilda Maness
Wilda Mae Maness, 87 passed away at Fairbanks Court Assisted Living surrounded by family and loving caretakers on July 4, 2017. She was born on July 13, 1929 in Houston, TX at St. Josephs Hospital to Percy and Marie Louise Carriere. As the oldest sibling, Wilda became the caretaker of the family at a very early age helping care for her mother as well as her brother Harry and sister Mary. Wilda was not only a sister but more like a mother especially to her sister Mary whom she loved immensely and helped guide throughout her adult life.

She graduated from Reagan High School in 1947. She met Lloyd Maness in 1946 and they were married January 22, 1948. While she didn’t like him much at first, thought he was too silly; they married and never left each other’s sides for 68 years. She worked as an accountant at Rein Printing Co. for over 20 years with dad. They were blessed with two daughters, Gwen and Janet, and many lifelong wonderful friends. Mom was the first person that we loved; she fed our tummy’s, nurtured our spirits, was the homeroom mom, sewed our matching Easter dresses, scrubbed us until our skin was pink, made doll clothes, made our favorite chocolate chip cookies, put together birthday parties, tortured us with home perms, and made GaGa’s (as she is called by Grandbabies) famous mac and cheese. Her life journey made her the person we all know with the Sweetness of an angel, a huge heart and her selfless, caring and loving soul. She and Dad both have a legacy in all who came into their path, they simply loved us all. Their family was their world. They both inspired us all to live as she and dad lived with God’s hand leading the way. At her passing, I know dad was standing at Heaven’s door clapping and grinning and kissing her, saying thank you Lord for bringing my sweetheart back to me, they missed each other so much after being together for 68 years. We know they are with the Lord and dancing & laughing in heaven with family and friends. Their life’s tip, “never go to bed angry and always treat everyone with love”.

Wilda is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Lloyd and her parents and brother. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-laws, Gwen and Nick Coronis and Janet and David Brast. Grandchildren: Michelle Barton-Frias and husband Aaron, Brad Glass and wife Stephanie and Matt Brast. Great grandchildren: Brendan and Makenna Frias and Ryan and Alysa Glass. Sister Mary Jenkins and niece Karen Thompson and husband Roland and their children Reed and Julie Thompson.
