James Grady Harrison, 60, passed away on June 8, 2017 at his residence in Houston Texas. Jim was born in Houston on June 4, 1957 to Karen and William Edward Harrison. He attended culinary college in Austin, Texas and worked multiple jobs in the restaurant industry, ranging from waiter to sous chef, culminating at the famous Houston establishment Brennans. He also excelled for over 20 years as a gifted salesman. At the time of his death, Jim was employed by Mattress Overstock. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding the open roads. His passion was cooking and delighting his friends and family with delicious new creations. He was funny and caring, checking in with family often. Jim was an avid reader and enjoyed history and science fiction. He also owned a vast music collection of multiple genres such as rock and blues. He enjoyed playing board games and video games. In addition, Jim was a big Rockets fan and looked forward to every new season.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Harrison. He is survived by his loving mother, Karen Harrison; and his siblings: Lisa and her husband Mark Mestayer, Meridith and her husband John Rosson, and Douglas Harrison and his wife Christina. He was affectionately known as “Monkey Jim” to his 6 nieces and nephews: Caroline and Webb Rosson, Claire and Allison Mestayer, and Kelly and Jack Harrison. Jim is also survived by a large extended family.
