Verlon Harris Buckley, affectionately known as Butch entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Katy, Texas. He was born on September 6, 1938 in San Augustine to Virgil and Ollie Buckley.
Butch met the love of his life, Linda in East Texas. Butch and Linda moved from East Texas to Houston after they got married on June 23, 1956. Butch and Linda would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in a few weeks. Butch and Linda worked hard to provide for their family and raised their 3 kids in the Oak Forest/Forest West area of Houston. He was active in church while physically able to do so and most recently was a member of Langwood Baptist Church.
Butch owned his own business and had a successful company for approximately 35 years (Superior Instruments). Butch loved bass fishing (along with his Gambler fishing boats). Butch enjoyed Indy Car racing and had the opportunity to be on the pit crew for the Indianapolis 500 in 1972 for A.J. Foyt. Butch ensured that his home, yard and vehicles were always well maintained and found in pristine condition. Even in Butch’s final days, his positive attitude and sense of humor remained strong. His quick wit and love of teasing others never diminished.
Butch is reunited with his parents and his sister, Joyce Buckley Kilcrease. He leaves to continue his legacy of life and love, his devoted wife of nearly 61 years, Linda Adkison Buckley; daughter, Peggy Richards and husband Mike; sons, Donnie Buckley and wife Lori and Dale Buckley and wife Wende; Butch’s grandkids, Kayla Kappers, Delana Richards, Lacy Frondorf, Ricky Richards, Bryan Buckley, Rachael Buckley, Jared Buckley and Chad Buckley and many relatives and dear friends.
Honoring Butch as pallbearers are his grandsons, Bryan Buckley, Jared Buckley, Chad Buckley and Ricky Richards and family friends, David Menchaca and James Qualls.
