Willis Melson Chatfield
Willis M. Chatfield - 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Born on May 28, 1935 in Pontiac, Michigan, Willis was the oldest of three boys to William and Laura Chatfield. William and Laura later moved the family - Robert, Willis and David to Tulsa, Oklahoma

Willis graduated from Rogers High School in Tulsa after which he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army. While in the service Willis learned about engineering and drafting. Honorably discharged, he left the Army as an E-4 Corporal on June 19, 1961.

Willis returned to his family home in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in 1965. His first job was with National Tank as a draftsman and photographer.

Willis permanently moved to Houston in the mid-70s where worked for several international engineering firms including Bechtel, Brown and Root and Halliburton. Willis loved his work and was passionate about engineering projects. In his personal time he enjoyed coaching little league, hunting and fishing, golfing and boating.

Willis met Dolores, his beloved wife of 46 years working as a piping engineer for Mobil Oil in Dallas, Texas. The family moved to Houston in 1975.

Mr. Chatfield is survived by his wife Dolores, his two sons Bill and Alex, daughter Robbie and his four grandchildren, Sophia, Isabella, Emelia and Dylan and his brother Robert. Willis was loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed
