Raul Oquendo, 70, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Houston. Born September 8, 1946 in Colombia to parents Richard and Christina, Mr. Oquendo will be remembered for his love of family and his Parish, St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. Raul and wife, Perla were active at St. Cecelia’s for 24 years where Raul served as a lector for several of those years. He dearly loved working in his yard and caring for his pool. He loved cooking his wonderful barbequed chicken. He had a passion for music, especially the Tango, but his greatest love was for his family and in particular his three granddaughters, who lovingly called him “Tito.”
Mr. Oquendo is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Perla; his son, Raul Jr. and wife, Diana; his daughter, Melissa and husband, Andres; three granddaughters, Nielle, Lexie and Camila; brothers, Leoncio, Mario, Fernando and Oscar; sisters, Maria Christina, Martha, Gloria and Ana; plus a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and treasured friends.
A visitation is planned for Thursday, March 23, 2017 from four o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at seven o’clock. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 24, 2017 at one thirty in the afternoon at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, TX 77024.
