June Anweiler, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 30th, 2016 in Austin, Texas.
Lila June Deskins came into this world as the second of nine children, June 10th, 1924 in Marvin, Virginia. After completing high school she moved to Baltimore to work in an airplane manufacturing plant as a Rosie the Riverter. Here she helped build Hellcats and Avengers used in the Pacific theatre of World War II.
She married Raymond Phillip Anweiler in 1946. In the early 1950s Ray and June moved to Houston, Texas. To their marriage union was brought four children, Barbara (Dan) Kordick, Phillip Anweiler (deceased), Kathy (Gary) Lemoine, and Scott (deceased) (Pat – deceased) Anweiler. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Buck (Lois) Deskins and Dorothy (George) Mitchell. She had five grandchildren, Scott McGrath, Andrew Lemoine, Chris Anweiler, Jonathan Anweiler and Michael Anweiler. June had one great-grandchild, Dillon McGrath. June was preceded in death by her parents, Ashley and Blanche Deskins, siblings Harold, Gwen, Ruth, Frank, Carlos, Lemuel, her sons Phillip and Scott and granddaughter Ashley.
June loved music, dancing and gardening. She also was not just a great mother to her four children, but mothered all the children in the neighborhood. June had large family of siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends and enjoyed each and every one of them.
Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 1101 Antoine Dr, Houston, Texas on August 1, 2016 from 7PM-9PM. Funeral Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Tuesday August 2 at 10AM, with burial service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Rosie the Riverter WWII Home Front Memorial Museum and Park.
