Kathryn Christmas Bruns was born on August 2, 1932, and lived most of her life in Houston, Texas. She died peacefully on October 15, 2018.
Kathryn is preceded in death by husband, Paul M. Bruns, son Chris M. Bruns and baby boy Bruns. Also, father Gilbert Henley Christmas, mother Nellie P. Hunt Christmas and step-mother Mary York Christmas. She is survived by son, Ronald D. Bruns and wife Kathleen Bruns, granddaughter Megan Lewis-Bruns, grandson David P. Bruns and great-granddaughter Kathryn C. Josleyn. Also step-grandsons Jason M. Light and Stephen C. Light, her sister Yvonne as well as numerous nieces and nephews by blood and love.
Besides actively caring for family and friends, she had a wide variety of interest. She worked to encourage better public school education for blind children. She worked for The Lighthouse of Houston in several capacities. Her hobbies and interest included painting, refurnishing furniture, gardening, traveling, cooking, sewing and helping coach the city’s first Beep Baseball team. She loved baseball, football and NASCAR racing, and in later years she and her sister raced go-carts with the Malibu Grand Prix Circuit for Seniors.
Graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Drive, on Saturday, October 27th at 11 am. After the service friends and family are welcome to join the family at Goode Company BBQ, 8911 Katy Freeway. In lieu of flowers, family request donations to The Lighthouse of Houston.
