Obituary for Bernyce Olive Mougey

Bernyce O. Apffel Cruikshank Mougey passed away on February 16, 2018. She was born in Galveston, Texas on March 28, 1921 but moved to Houston at an early age. She was always proud of her Galveston roots. She is preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth M. Cruikshank and Richard B. Mougey, parents Clarence and Lillian Mae Apffel, brother Clarence P. Apffel, sister Dolores L. Buckner, and daughter Sandra Ann Dalio.

Bernyce loved to play bridge, bingo and poker. She enjoyed dancing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and her many travels She was always ready to volunteer and help when she was asked. She was president of the Legionettes (a Shrine organization), a patron of the Houston Junior League, and a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Sugar Land.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth M. Cruikshank, Jr. and wife Betty, step-daughter Diane Mougey Gresko, grandchildren Kristen and husband Dr. Joshua Gary, Kenneth Bryan Cruikshank and wife Kristen, Eric Dalio and wife Maya, and Marc Dalio. Great grandchildren include Liam, Brooks, and Lachlan Gary and Hayes, Campbell, and Cohen Cruikshank. Nieces and nephews include Vicki and Don Collins, Kathy and Wally Athey, Sharon and John Hugele, Rick and Nancy Buckner, Denise and Robert Murski and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 3pm until 4pm Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel followed by the funeral at 4pm. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children (Houston) or to a charity of your choice.
