Roberta “Bobbie” F. Olle-Lewis, age 80, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2018 in Houston, Texas.
Bobbie was born December 20, 1937 in Esterville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Robert and Susie Mae (Morlan) Simonsen who have both preceded her in death, as did her second husband Martin E. Olle, her brother-in-law Darrel Roger Garrelts and her beloved son, Tony Jerome Lewis.
She is survived by her three children Carla and husband Jeff Vetter, Todd Lewis, and Cara Lewis. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Taylor and husband Julio Jauregui, Price Vetter, Bryanna Lewis, Brittney Paugh and partner Corey Heinemann, Roger Paugh and wife Elida, and Tucker Paugh; great grandchildren Broghen Heinemann and Avery Heinemann. Bobbie is also survived by her sister Sandra Garrelts and daughter-in-law Lyndia Paugh Lewis, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bobbie was not born in Texas but got here as soon as she could, in 1973. She worked as a G13 Claims Examiner at the Veterans Administrations Regional Office in Houston until her retirement. Bobbie was active in numerous groups like Toast Masters, the Texas Democratic Party, and the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church where she had also been a Wedding Coordinator. Until her death, Bobbie had been a member of the Red Hat Lady’s organization at Grace Care Center of Cypress.
Music had always been a passion for Bobbie. She played the piano and the accordion (she new how to squeeze out a good polka). She loved listening to a variety of music that included Luciano Pavarotti, the Four Tenors, Gospel, and Tejano. Bobbie was an avid reader and liked to collect books, angels, crosses and music boxes. Her beloved dogs Heidi and Daisy who brought her great comfort and companionship, not to mention lots of kisses over the years, precede her in death.
The family wishes to thank the pallbearers in advance: Randy Cernosek, Mark Bailey, Dan Garrelts, Jeff Garrelts Dave Hall, and Jeremy Hall.
We would like also like to express our gratitude to Hospice with Grace for their loving care and service over the past year.
Friendship is happy moments and special memories. Thank you Sue Ripper and Juanita Cernosek, dear friends of Bobbie for over 40 years.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jerome’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77080 or the charity of one’s choice.
