Obituary for DOROTHY HAMNER HEARN

Our beloved Dorothy Hamner Hearn left this earth on January 20, 2018, to be with the Lord and her husband, Robert, only 10 days after his departure. They were high school sweethearts at Jeff Davis High School and were married on April 4, 1943 while Robert was on leave from WWII. Their devotion to one another for 74 years was an inspiration to all who knew them. They enjoyed a long life full of travel and fishing in the Gulf while enjoying their beach house that Robert built in the early 70's. They made frequent trips to Sea Isle and loved watching the sun set in the West Bay each evening. Dorothy so enjoyed her family gatherings and loved watching her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren play, especially at Christmastime. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and we all looked forward to her amazing Christmas cookies. Her kindness, happy disposition, and beautiful smile will always shine in our hearts.
Dorothy leaves behind a daughter and her husband, Suzanne Hearn Kircher and Richard Kircher, and a son and his wife, Robert Lester Hearn, Jr. and Margo Hearn. Robert and Dorothy were blessed with five grandchildren: Sharidan Smith Lippold and husband Ryan, Matthew Smith and wife Meghan, John Hearn and wife Karen, Will Hearn and wife Jenna, and Meredith Hearn Brubaker and husband Austin. In addition, there are nine great-grandchildren who have brought them much joy: Kendall, Porter, Keegan, Riley, Jack, Sam, Evan, Owen, and Hank. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Wilson, and her devoted niece Dianne Russell. Dorothy really enjoyed Dianne's special visits over the past few years.
Dorothy spent her final years at Parkway Place. Her family would like to thank the many people who lovingly cared for her and Robert while they were there. They would also like to thank Karen Solis, Robert and Dorothy's companion who cared for them for the past five years. Her love and devotion to them is greatly appreciated.
