Chow Yee Woo, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas on September 13, 2017. She was born on November 21, 1926 in Hoi Ping, China to Mr. Wing Hae and Mrs. Zone Gee Wong.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Woo, her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Jean Yick Chee Leong and Mrs. Tse.
She immigrated to America in 1948 as a GI Bride, where she and her husband started a family and a grocery store in Mississippi. She and the family moved to Houston, Texas in 1961, where the family-owned grocery business continued until their retirement. Then, she began enjoying trips to the casinos in between babysitting and shopping.
She was an avid cook of Chinese pastries and meals, loved playing mahjong, bingo and enjoyed passing time knitting and giving her colorful scarves away. Most of all, she loved to eat, along with the fun and excitement surrounding get together of friends and families.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her two sons, Thomas Woo and Herman Woo, her eldest daughter, Shirley Vu, husband Sonny and daughter June Thomas, her husband Dean and grandson, Chase Thomas, including nieces Edith and Donna, nephews Bruce and Philip, all their spouses and children, along with numerous relatives and friends.
Her family extends sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Charles Holmsten and his staff for their excellent care, attention and support.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. A funeral service and interment will follow immediately from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
