Obituary for Mervyn B. Davis IV

Mervyn B. Davis IV passed away on July 2, 2017 to be home with his Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents Mervyn B. Davis III and Ethel Davis, and one sister Carol Wiener. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Gayle Spencer Davis from El Campo, his son Mervyn B. Davis V and wife Deanna, daughter Laurie and husband Michael Ramirez, two special grandsons Dean 18 and Jake 13, two nieces Ginny and Glenna and many friends and relatives. He graduated in the Class of 55’ at Spring Branch High School. He served in Korea in the ASA Forces. After returning home he and his father opened Dave’s Sporting Shop on Long Point for 10 years. He later became a Real Estate Broker, worked for the City of Houston in the Public Works and Engineering Department as a supervisor for 25 years. Upon retiring they moved to Selkirk Island just south of Bay City on the Colorado River. There, he was a board member of the Matagorda ISD for 7 years. He volunteered for the Matagorda Fire Department, was a member of the VFW and a 44-year member of the Gray and Masonic Lodge #3 as a 32nd degree Mason. His final wish was to be cremated with a memorial later.
