Obituary for Gabino Reyes

Gabino Reyes
Gabino Reyes, 75, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. He was born in Mexico. Gabino loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time celebrating life with them. He truly made the most of every moment choosing happiness and joy above all else.
He moved to Houston in 1972 to work and it was during this time that he met his wife, Laura. The two got married and raised their three children in Houston, Texas.
During this time, Gabino went on to work for many prestigious Refining Engineering Companies where he gained a reputation for being one of the leading Senior Pressure Vessel Designers in the industry. He was fortunate to make many friends in the course of his career and always loved what he did.
Gabino found great pride in his children’s professional accomplishments, but his real joy came from their personal happiness. His granddaughters completed his family and his role of grandfather is something he took very seriously; attending every concert, recital, performance, award ceremony, birthday party etc. He glowed when he saw his grandchildren on stage. He played a critical role in the girls’ success getting them to appointments, delivering forgotten projects and having lunch with them.
Gabino loved to try new restaurants and attend performances. He explored his love of music and enjoyed discovering new singers and sharing with his family. He would surf YouTube videos and watched The Voice, America’s Got Talent and American Idol.
Gabino never met a stranger and would gladly listen to the joys and sorrows of anyone who crossed his path. He loved to laugh and spend time with his family. The outpouring of love since his passing has been an overwhelming testament to his character and the happiness he brought to others.
Gabino leaves behind his wife Laura of 44 years; children Vanessa, Gabriela, Gabino and spouses Heide, Edgar and Angela. Three grandchildren, Stephanie, Carolina and Isabella. His sister Dolores plus a host of loving, extended family members, and his beloved dog Mimi.
A visitation is planned for Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 11 am until noon at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon also at Woodlawn.
